Today's win was a vitally important victory for us, at this point in the season.

With the 'play-off picture' slowly coming into focus week by week, we knew that a win would be necessary today - if we wanted to maintain a solid grip on our 3rd. place position. As well, with a possible 2nd. place finish certainly not out of reach for us - we knew that a win today would be crucial.

This was our motivation heading into today's match.

As well, our last meeting with the Wanderers (a 25-12 loss) was a bit of a disappointment for us; and I know that our guys were determined to loss lose twice to them.

The very wet conditions certainly made the game incredibly unpredictable in the opening stages. But throughout the match, I thought that both teams did a good job of coping with, and adapting to the conditions.... Considering the soggy conditions, the ball movement which lead to our opening Try was quite remarkable - and it gave everyone within the squad a huge boost - and vaulted us into the game.

Today, we also knew that continued pressure and aggression when defending - anywhere on the field - would be 'key', if we were to succeed. And I think we accomplished just that.

In last week's match versus Sturgeon Creek, we were very happy with our performance on defense - and we knew that enduring commitment on defense would be important in today's match.... From our stand point, it was certainly unfortunate to see us concede a late Try to the Wanderers; however for 75 minutes of the match, the level of pressure and aggression that we maintained when defending was wonderful to see.

Next up for us, is the Wasps on August 22nd. - when we make our last regular season trip to Winnipeg.
